Round 16 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League SA kicks-off on Saturday, with Comets back home at SA Athletics Stadium, hosting Croydon Kings.
In Round 15, the Senior team fell to MetroStars, however Coach Theo Tsiounis believed the encounter to be an even one.
“I thought it was an even game with both teams getting on top during different parts of the game,” he said.
“Unfortunately we were unable to capitalise on our chances when we were on top.”
Following a break in the League for the Cup Finals, focus is now on Saturday’s match against the Kings. Having faced Mark Brazzale’s side twice already this season, once with a win (League) and once with a loss (Cup), Tsiounis knows what to expect.
“Croydon are a good outfit with a good structure and disciplined players. We will be focusing on how we want to play and ensuring that we play to our potential.”
As the home and away season nears its completion, Tsiounis is pleased with his group heading in to the late stages of the competition.
“The promising aspect of our Senior group is that we don’t rely on one player.
“We have a number of versatile players that have played a number of positions and performed well.
“We also have some quality younger players that we have relied on in the last 5-6 weeks; they have also risen to the occasion.”
Recent additions, Sean Brennan, Doni Pollock and Mohammad Sumaoro have also slotted in well.
“The new guys have been great. They have settled into the squad quickly and effortlessly. They have great personalities which fit in the Club well.”
