Football Academy 2017

The Adelaide Comets Football Academy spent the recent School Holidays working hard in an intensive week of technical, tactical and game related activities to build on the success of the academies inception in 2016.

Director of Football, Doug Paterson, conducted training sessions in a week-long training program with the assistance of Senior National Premier League Player, Doni Pollock, for players from the Pre-Academy aged between 10 & 11 years old that are all members of the Adelaide Comets MiniRoos teams.

The Clubs Technical Director, Steven Grelli, conducted sessions with the Clubs Academy group aged 12 & 13 in game related sessions which saw the Academy group play a trial game against a Steven Grelli select group external to the Adelaide Comets.

The Adelaide Comets Football Academy was established in 2016, identifying players within the club that demonstrated a high level of ability and potential to further develop in an elite environment.

The club has benefited from the 2016 Academy players (aged 14-15 years old) with 85% of players participating as members of the Senior National Premier League Under 18’s squads along with representation within the FFSA STIC/Skillaroos Programs.

Academy players receive an extra 30 hours training throughout the season, with the aim to further develop and prepare players for Senior football at Adelaide Comets.

The coaching staff conducted an intensive 12 hour training program throughout the July school holidays which proved to be a great success with players improving their understanding and further development within the game.

The Adelaide Comets Football Academy information and updates are available on the Adelaide Comets School of Excellence Facebook page and at the Clubs website.

The Adelaide Comets Football Academy would like to thank the club for its ongoing support in the Academy program and look forward to further growth and expansion in 2018.
