The Adelaide Comets Seniors returned to winning ways on Saturday in the second to last round of football in the regular season.
A 2-1 win care of late goals from Nathan Andijanto and Lewis Farquhar secured the win over League leaders, Adelaide City.
Coach Theo Tsiounis noted the importance of the win.
“I believe it was an important morale boosting win for the squad,” he said.
“We have been playing some good football in the last few weeks and it was great to be rewarded with a win.”
The squad from Round 1 to now, heading in to Round 22 is significantly different and Tsiounis acknowledges the changes which may have effected form mid-season.
“We are always looking to improve on our performances and we have a good, young group of players that are constantly looking at how they can improve their game.
“The squad has changed considerably from the beginning of the season, however I believe that every team is capable of winning on any given day regardless of the opponent.
“We are looking forward to finishing off the season well and then working towards finals football.”
Once Round 22 is completed, the final 6 teams taking part in the finals series will be confirmed as well as final season standings. Tsiounis and his side are looking forward to the next stage.
“As a Senior group we are confident,” he told.
“I am a strong believer that if you work hard at achieving your objectives it gives you the best opportunity of performing well.
“The group have worked tirelessly over the course of the season.”
