Adelaide Comets Seniors suffered their first loss of the 2017 season on Friday night against now second placed MetroStars at SA Athletics Stadium.
With a 1-nil lead at half time care of an Allan Welsh goal, it wasn’t until the 53rd minute that Metro found the back of the net. A second goal at 57 minutes sealed the win for the visitors.
Coach Theo Tsiounis said that his side has taken lessons from the match.
“It was a very physical game that I thought could have gone either way. We will definitely look to learn from this game moving forward and improve in some areas.
“The result was disappointing. However, we have evaluated the game and addressed some issues; we didn’t play to our potential.
“There were positives that we will look to maintain and areas that will require some attention that we will work on during training.
“The goals we conceded came from individual errors and decisions that are out of our control but the playing squad is very receptive and always looking to improve.”
Looking ahead to Round 5, the side travels to Polonia Reserve to face Croydon Kings. Croydon have had a mix of results to date with 2 wins, a loss and most recently a draw.
“We are confident going in to any game,” said Tsiounis.
“I think we have a balanced squad that is capable of doing very well. The group is determined to be successful and we will continue to work hard to achieve results.”
