For week 2 of our Sponsor Spotlight, we spoke to Andrew Ladas – Bank Manager of Bank of Sydney, located in Mile End, Adelaide.
How did you become involved with Adelaide Comets Football Club? How long has Bank of Sydney been involved with Adelaide Comets?
Firstly I knew a lot of the Committee members personally within the community.
One of my employees at the bank, Poppy Visvardis, her son Nick Visvardis was playing for Comets in 2014 and Poppy asked if BOS would sponsor her son as a ‘Player Sponsor’ – that is how Bank of Sydney became involved with the club.
What is Bank of Sydney?
Bank of Sydney is a ‘Boutique Relationship Bank’. We pride ourselves on customer service; we do not have a ‘call centre’ – you ring our number and you will talk with someone at the branch.
Bank of Sydney offers all mainstream banking products like any other bank: deposits, home loans and business loans as well as award winning savings accounts.
There are 16 Branches in Australia: 10 in Sydney, 5 in Melbourne & 1 in Adelaide (Mile End).
Why do you continue to support Adelaide Comets as a club?
Bank of Sydney continues to support Adelaide Comets as some committee members have obtained loans with the bank, but further to that, the Club is very well run.
From the Board, to the coaches and playing group, Adelaide Comets is a great community based club and always involved the Bank in any sponsorship event to enable us to promote our brand and products.
Does Bank of Sydney offer any benefits specific to Adelaide Comets members?
If any committee member, player or supporter obtains a home or business loan we will give them a discounted rate and there is an agreement in place as a ‘referrer’ that the Club gets paid a fee for any loan that settles.
Additionally, during May-October each year, anyone wanting foreign currency eg EUROS or $US for trips to Europe & USA and they mention Comets we give them a preferential rate.
